One of my nicknames growing up was “Kelli Camel.” I could hike the Grand Canyon or the Eagle Cap Wilderness with a 40 pound pack on my back and not stop for a drink of water for 7 miles. It was those yearly summer hiking excursions that taught me to persevere even when the trail was steep, or the pack seemed heavy. Often in hiking these trails, I would see a snake shrink back into the brush on the side of the trail. This would cause me to scream like a girl, but I didn’t shrink back from moving forward on the trail. The snake had to go!
As I read God’s call to persevere in the faith, Hebrews 10:39 reminds us, “But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.” Now is the time to forward march. Now is the time to pursue God’s purpose and will for your life. We are alive in these last days for such a time as this. God has placed you here on this earth for a purpose.
The Bible tells us in these days many will shrink back, lose faith, let their love for one another grow cold, betray and hate each other, and listen to demons’ whisper lies instead of kicking them out (Matthew 24:10, 1 Timothy 4:1). Don’t be those people. I know you; you are an overcomer (Revelation 12:11)! We put on the armor of God everyday (Ephesians 6), we stand firm and strong on the foundation of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:58). Satan knows his time is short (Rev 12:12), but our eternity awaits those who do not shrink back, but to those who have faith. So, run the race with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1), friend. Don’t let a little snake get in your way, after all God has given you the power to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the evil one (Luke 10:19)."
You are an overcomer!
